How our compatibility checker works

Errors vs warnings

Errors are physical incompatibilities. You cannot add a build to cart until they are fixed (wrong socket, DDR4 on a DDR5 board, GPU longer than the case allows).

Warnings are quality or headroom concerns: tight PSU margin, cooler TDP close to the CPU, or a CPU/GPU pairing that may leave frames on the table. You can still check out, but we surface the tradeoff.

What we check in real time

CPU socket matches the motherboard.

RAM type (DDR4/DDR5) matches the board.

Motherboard form factor fits the case.

GPU length fits case clearance.

Cooler socket support, air height, or AIO radiator mounts vs the case.

Cooler TDP rating vs CPU TDP (warning when close).

PSU wattage vs estimated system draw with ~35% headroom.

A simple CPU/GPU balance heuristic so one side is not massively overbuilt.

How to use it well

Start from a Balanced Build (budget or use-case) so the baseline is already compatible, then swap parts you care about.

Or open any pre-built and hit Customize This Build — the parts pre-fill and you can change one piece without redoing the whole list.

Share links encode your full selection. Send one to a friend or save it for later; prices and availability refresh from the live catalog when they open it.
